Anand Jon Alexander, the celebrity fashion designer known for his intricate beaded designs has been convicted of rape will serve a 59 year sentence. Alexander, 34, won't be eligible for parole until he services a minimum of 85 percent of his sentence, which will be in 2075
The South Indian born designer is well known in the United States. He studied at Parsons in New York, his designs were seen on Oprah Winfrey, Janet Jackson, Paris Hilton, Paula Abdul and Lawrence Fishburne. He received a People's Choice Award in 2002 and was featured on 3 episodes America's Next Top Model in 2003.
However in March 2007 accusations of the designers history of sexual assault came to the limelight when he was accused of assaulting seven young women and girls he enticed with the promise of modeling jobs. According to a jury, the accusations were true and the designer was convicted. He faces similar charges in both Texas and New York.
