Famous Designers

Famous-Designers
Designers can have such a major influence on what people are wearing that entire trends are started or sometimes ended by them. The newest things to wear and the most fashionable trends are often dictated by just a few in the top positions. We have the designers to thank for so much innovation in fashion as well. They take the risk and lose millions when their new designs fail to catch on. But, they stand to make the mega-bucks when they have a new hit on their hands. Let’s take a look at a few of the more famous designers.
Dolce & Gabbana. The famous owners of the D&G logo founded their firm in 1985. Their headquarters are in Milan, Italy and their products include: clothing, footwear, handbags and sunglasses. They have 3,150 employees. The company was started by the Italian designers Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana in Milan, Italy. They proved to be quite a success after 20 years in the industry, in 2005 their turnover was 750 million Euros. Their clothing designs are usually black in color and geometric in shape. They have two central lines with a few key distinct differences: Dolce&Gabbana specializes in luxury items. They are influenced more by designers and are more formal and traditional. They reflect long-term trends rather than seasonal changes. This company also sells sunglasses and corrective eyewear, purses, and watches. In February 2010, it was announced that American singer Madonna would design a collection of sunglasses set to be released in May of that year. They also have a set of fragrances, for men and women. They also have another branch called D&G. D&G favors more casual products that follow an urban inspiration and attempt to set trends rather than follow them. This is the younger, more flamboyant line. D&G sells watches as well as clothing, and have been voted the U.K’s best luxury brand.
Another famous designer on the fashion scene is Giorgio Armani. Armani is considered the master of elegance. One of best Giorgio Armani quotes: “when I think about elegance, I think of how one achieves it only by silencing loud trends.” His style is relatively stable from season to season and the same elegant and tailored style has continued. The Armani name has become synonymous with high-fashion and couture worldwide and is considered one of the most prestigious names in the fashion industry. End of year sales for 2005 were $1.69 billion.
Finally, Gianni Versace. Usually referred to as Versace, is an Italian fashion label founded by Gianni Versace in 1978. The first Versace boutique was opened in Milan’s Via della Spiga in 1978, and its popularity was immediate. Today, Versace is one of the world’s leading international fashion houses. Versace designs, markets and distributes luxury clothing, accessories, fragrances, makeup and home furnishings under the various brands of the Versace Group. Sadly, Gianni Versace was killed on July 15, 1997. His sister Donatella Versace, formerly vice-president, then stepped in as creative director of Versace and his older brother Santo Versace became CEO. Donatella’s daughter Allegra Versace also owns 50 percent of the company since 2004 as wished by Gianni in his last will.  Perhaps the best news in all of this is that artists can live on through their creative designs.
