Lady Gaga wore a raw meat dress at the MTV VMAs, even asking Cher to hold her meat purse as she accepted her Video of the Year award for Bad Romance. After wearing a raw meat bikini on the cover of Vogue Japan, Lady Gaga once again gave PETA and animal rights activists something to beef about.
Some speculated that the Pop Princess was just looking to stir up controversy, as PETA was quick to speak out about Gaga’s teeny weenie meaty bikini. Yet it seems this meat dress, complete with raw meat accessories, received a great big yawn from the outspoken animal rights organization.
Gaga however insists that her clothing choice was not intended to offend vegans or vegetarians (or PETA) but instead says that she wore the outfit to encourage her Little Monsters to stand up for their beliefs.
"If we don't stand up for what we believe in and fight for our rights pretty soon," she said on stage, "we're going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones. And, I am not a piece of meat."
